Freedom In Christ
The USA is a free country, isn't it? The United States of America celebrate Independence Day each year on the fourth of July. Over two hundred years ago our forefathers declared our freedom from tyranny. We experience many freedoms in this wonderful country; people in other countries cry for freedom. But, truly, freedom without Jesus is just another war. "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me" (John 14:36). "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). The truth is that the eternal message of the Church is to proclaim who Jesus is and what He has accomplished. To reveal Jesus through obedience to what He has taught is to bring the life of His kingdom into this world. Those who love Him will exalt Him and reveal His glory. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me" (John 12:32).
Let’s face it: the people of the United States need freedom in Christ; it begins with the Church of Jesus Christ. "If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land" (II Chronicles 7:14). "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage" (Galatians 5:1).
Do you want to experience and see true freedom in this country? Then exercise your freedom in Christ to gather together to worship, to pray, to seek God, to lift up the name of Jesus. "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you, and His glory will appear upon you. And nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising" (Isaiah 60:1-3). "In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; we have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength..." (Isaiah 26:1-4).
"Once a man is united to God, how could he not live forever? Once a man is separated from God, what can he do but wither and die?" C S Lewis
